How to convert a bank statement PDF to Excel
TableHTML HK is currently free and can reconstruct scanned statement pages as Excel and self-contained HTML. It keeps transaction columns, headings and spacing close to the PDF so the result is easier to inspect and edit than a plain text export.
A careful conversion workflow
- Make a working copy and remove pages that are not required.
- Upload the PDF; the limit is 50 MB and 20 pages.
- Open the HTML result first to compare the reconstructed page visually.
- Download Excel, then verify the control points below before sorting or calculating.
Control points to verify
- Statement period, account identifier and currency.
- Opening and closing balances.
- Transaction dates, value dates and multiline descriptions.
- Debit, credit and running-balance columns, including negative signs and decimals.
- Rows continued across page breaks and totals repeated in headers or footers.
Privacy and appropriate use
Only upload a statement you are authorised to process. Documents are processed temporarily on the server; remove unnecessary personal data before uploading when possible. The output is a transcription aid, not bank reconciliation, accounting, tax, financial or legal advice. Keep the source statement as the record of reference.
