How to convert a scanned PDF to Excel

A scan contains page images rather than reliable spreadsheet cells. TableHTML HK reads the visible text and coordinates, then builds an Excel workbook whose rows, columns and spacing follow the source page as closely as possible. The converter is currently free.

Before you upload

• Use the clearest original scan available; avoid screenshots if you have the PDF.
• Rotate sideways pages and check that no table edge is cropped.
• Keep the file at 50 MB or less and no more than 20 pages.
• Remove pages you do not need, especially when the document contains private data.

Convert and download

1. Open the converter and choose the scanned PDF.
2. Confirm that you are authorised to process the document, then start conversion.
3. Review the reconstructed page and download Excel for editing or HTML for an offline visual copy.

Check the workbook before using it

Compare totals, decimal points, negative signs, dates and merged headings with the source. Look for a value placed one column to the left or right, especially where a scan has faint lines. Automatic row heights and column widths make values visible, but they do not prove that every character is correct.
